Mostly Sangiovese with a field blend of other native grapes, all grown on Lanciola’s estate ‘Le Masse di Greve’ vineyard in the center of Greve. Fermented in steel and aged in second use barriques for two years before bottling. Full bodied, with the decade-plus of bottle age showing itself in this wine’s strong savory, earthy, leathery aroma and flavor profile. Tannins are fully softened and the oak has integrated perfectly. This mature red is perfect for an umami-rich meal. Lanciola, a fantastic producer in Tuscany based just outside of Florence, is an historic estate that was purchased by the Guarnieri family and they have been dedicated to improving the estate and making the most of the excellent vineyard plots that they own by improving things both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
