2019 Chateau Tour de Gendres 'La Gloire de Mon Père'

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 25% Merlot farming is organic.  Fully destemmed and given a 30 day maceration. Fermented and aged in barrels and foudres for 12 months (30% new, 70% in one-and two-year-old barrels), followed by six months in vats with lees stirring. No fining or filtration. No sulphur additions- zero/zero! 13.5% alcohol.  This is a powerful wine, rich in tannins as well as blackberry fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, violets and well-integrated toasty vanilla oak notes. With a good proportion of Malbec in the blend, the wine is dark in color. What were once quite formidable tannins are still present, but considerably rounded.  In a great drinking window right now.  ‘La Gloire de Mon Père’ translates to ‘The Glory of My Father,” a famous 1957 French novel made into a film in 1990.
