2020 Niepoort "Redoma" Reserva Branco

Redoma is Niepoort’s original Douro wine, first released in 1991. It is like Douro: “extreme, with a rigorous character.” Comprised of a blend of Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão from 70+ year old vineyards on the west side of the Douro River. Fermented in concrete lagares and aged in old wooden barrels for 22 months. Although this is only 12% alcohol, it’s impressive mouthcoating and wonderfully complex.  The bouquet reveals wonderful notes of fresh red fruits - especially raspberry - and juicy plum. The fruit aroma is underlined by some spice notes, a finely floral hint of cistrose and a herbal hint. On the palate, this presents a firm structure, guaranteeing a long life ahead in the cellar.
