100% estate grown Pinot Noir, sourced predominantly from the Napoleone Vineyard. Hand picked and fermented with indigenous yeasts in a combination of 5t and 1t open fermenters. Pump overs took place twice per day during fermentation. Aged just under a year in French oak. Punt Road is a benchmark for cool climate Aussie styles. About an hour’s drive East of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley has a deep history as Australia’s oldest wine growing district. Winemaker Tim Shand formerly worked at neighboring Giant Steps in Yarra Valley; as well as vintages at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy and Château Margaux in Bordeaux, and stints in Chianti, Oregon and Chile.
91 points, Wine Enthusiast. "This is bright and bouncy Yarra Pinot without much too winemaking fuss. The nose is as vibrant and red-berried as the cherry color suggests, backed by soft savory, spicy and sappy notes, thanks to some whole-bunch fermentation, and pretty rose petal notes, too. The palate is lightweight but with fleshy fruit. There's not as much crunchy acidity one might hope for in this style, but chill down slightly and it's likely to be a major crowd-pleaser."
