55% Grenache, 45% Syrah. The Grenache comes from CCOF certified organic vineyards and all the fruit comes from the Yountville and Carneros AVA’s of the Napa Valley. Hand harvested and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, of which only 10% were new. 14.9% alcohol. 668 cases made. This wine opens up with bright fruit, mainly plum, accompanied by mild black pepper and hints of savory character from the Syrah. Gentle, medium weight tannins fill the mid-palate. The wine finishes with a ripe cherry flavor, almost liquor in style. Great mix of fruit and umami notes. Very food friendly. Founders Gary and Kit’s love of Rhone wines began with their cycling adventures through Europe- which also led them to create the Clif Bar, providing the financial means to make wine in the Napa Valley.
