50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon from vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers. All free run juice. Vinified and aged simply in stainless steel tanks. 12.5% alcohol. White Bordeaux in a Burgundy bottle!
This 50/50 blend is perfectly balanced, with neither grape overpowering the other. Super fresh and aromatic, with tons of tropical passionfruit, pineapple and lemon with fresh cut herbs, honeysuckle and white flowers. Medium to medium full bodied, with a hint of creaminess, zesty acidity and a wet=stone tinged finish. This wine works perfectly with fried mussels or grilled asparagus.
Les Vignobles Despagne have been located in Bordeaux, in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, for more than 200 years. Under the guidance of Thibault Despagne, the family-owned estate produces exceptional wines that showcase the region’s unique terroir, with a blend of local varieties like Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Despagne produces a number of labels, mainly released in both red and white iterations and predominantly under the Bordeaux appellation title. These include Biface, Girolate, Tour de Mirambeau, L’Onde (with no added sulphites) and Le Mythe d’Ampohorie rosé as well as Mont-Pérat.
The latter is perhaps the most well-known wine of the lineup, having been featured in the hugely popular wine-based Manga series, The Drops of God.
“We don’t have Grands Crus but what does it matter.”- Thibault Despagne
