100% organic (uncertified) Pinot Noir (Dijon 115 clone) from this single 2 acre block on Neely’s estate off Portola Valley Road in the northern part of the appellation. Spring Ridge Vineyard runs from the floor of Portola Valley up the ridge toward Windy Hill. Fermented with native yeast in open top vats and aged in 25% new French oak for 10 months. 13.0% alcohol. Classic hues of red and burgundy with a ruby core. Aromas and flavors of red cherry and plum laced with a mix of clay-earth and wood spices, violet and rose. A dry wine with lighter-weighted mouthfeel, flavours are persistent, fresh and lively. Some earth and wood smoke are also persistent. Fine to moderate tannins from both fruit and judicious use of wood add layers of complexity and power. Drink now and over the next 5-7 years. Really excellent stuff here.
94 points, Wine Enthusiast. "The nose on this bottling is deliciously exhilarating, showing vibrant raspberry and brisk cherry aromas. The palate is fresh and fruity as well, with pomegranate flavors that are enhanced by lemon peel and a firm, invigorating texture. It goes down like soda pop."
