97% Cab, along with 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cab Franc, all grown organically (certified). 20 months in French oak, 29% new barrels, minimal racking, minimal SO2 added. No fining or filtration. Venn is the second label of Young Inglewood and was established in 2013 by mother & son winemakers Jacky and Scott Young. Redolent with black cherries and berries, tantalizing earthy and savory notes, smooth tannins for structure. Delicious quaffable wine crafted to be enjoyed at the vintage. Drink now or cellar. This wine captures what is classic about Napa Valley Cabernet. Yes, fruit, and also: savory and aromatic qualities, freshness and tension. It’s varietally true. Here we find contemporary Napa character reaching back to take its cues from the ‘70s Napa greats and a gateway to what we love about Cabernet Sauvignon. Restrained at 13.9% alcohol.
VENN Wine Co. was established in 2013 by mother & son winemakers Jacky and Scott Young. It;s the "sister" winery or second label to up-and-coming Napa hotshots Young Inglewood. If you haven't heard of them- they occupy a prime piece of land on coveted benchland nestled up against the Mayacamas Mountains in the southwestern reaches of St. Helena. They have 16 acres of vines on land that was originally planted to Cabernet in the 1870s. Jacky and her husband Jim bought the property in 2007. Scott came on as winemaker after stints at Anne-Claude Leflaive in Burgundy, Spottswoode and Long Meadow Ranch. The vineyards are CCOF certified organic, and the winery was one of the first to be "Napa Green Winery, Vineyards, and Soil to Bottle" certified. The aim is to produce wines reminiscent of classic Napa Valley Cabs from the ‘70s and ‘80s. The Venn wines are designed to show off the vineyards and style of the Young Inglewood team but with "drink now" wines rather than cellar candidates.
