100% sustainably farmed Pinot Noir from Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. Fermented with native yeast in open-top vats and 20% whole clusters. Aged in French oak- percentage of new wood is unspecified.Unfined, lightly filtered and bottled with minimal sulphur. 12.5% alcohol. 4,000 cases made. Light in body but dark and brooding in character with aromas of forest floor, black cherry and chocolate coated coffee bean. The palate has spicy, peppery notes with thyme and violets; the savory, herbal notes are nicely balanced against fresh red berry fruit. Light and smooth tannins with round and fresh acidity. Black Cottage is the personal label of winemaker David Clouston, known for the excellent wines he makes under his eponymous label.
