100% organic Malbec. Hand harvested and destemmed. Macerated for 30 days with daily punching downs. Native yeasts only. The wine is aged for four years in barrel. Neutral alcohol added during fermentation, so this is fortified like Port wine. Vinified completely without sulphur- zero/zero! 110 g/l residual sugar. 17% alcohol. The fortification of Malbec is not a common practice: at Le Cèdre, they do it brilliantly, leaving in this Sweet Malbec aromas of fruit paste, blackcurrant, blackberry jam, nougat, and a hint of soy. The texture is rich, and the wine finishes more lively without the sugar being an obstacle. Château du Cèdre is located in Cahors, which is located about an hour and a half east of Bordeaux. Founded in the 1950s by Belgian immigrant Léon Verhaeghe, third-generation Pascal and Jean-Marc now helm the estate.
