2022 Domaine de Villaine Mercurey 'Les Montots'

100% certified organic and impeccably farmed Pinot Noir from a single 4 acre vineyard planted 40-50 years ago. ‘Les Montots’ is situated on fairly steep slope with southern exposure, planted with a selection of vines from Nuits-Saint-Georges chosen for their aromatic qualities and moderate yield. Structured and vigorous, deep with a dark ruby color. It will open up gradually with age, revealing the breadth of its complexity after five to seven years. It will age and develop for fifteen to twenty years. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in wood tanks with a minimum of 2/3 whole cluster inclusion.  This is the personal estate of Aubert de Villaine, the illustrious man behind Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and his wife Pamela. Aubert’s nephew Pierre de Benoist now runs the Côte Chalonnaise estate.
