2022 Precedent Chenin Blanc 'Handley Vineyard'

100% Chenin Blanc from the Handley vineyard, planted in 2016 to Precedent winemaker/owner Nathan Kandler’s specifications.  This is the third vintage from this site in Corralitos near the Watsnoville border, on marine terraces over alluvial soils. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral puncheon. 13.5% alcohol. Only about 100 cases made. This light, clean, zippy Chenin definitely shows off its coastal origins with a ocean spray salty streak running through its citrus, white peach and key lime fruit flavors. Low alcohol and high acidity make this a mouthwatering choice to pair with oysters and all other fresh seafood. Precedent is the side label of Nathan Kandler, better known as the head winemaker of Thomas Fogarty for the last decade and a half. He focuses mostly on old vines, minimalist winemaking and tiny lots of hand crafted wine.
