An old vine blend of mostly Zinfandel and various other unidentified grapes. The Kirschenmann Vineyard rests in a sandy, chalk and silica rich oxbow of the Mokelumne River. Planted in 1915 on its own roots, this organically and dry farmed vineyard has fast become one of Lodi’s most prized sites under the stewardship of Tegan Passalaqua (Turley, Sandlads). Fermented and aged naturally with only a small addition of sulfur post MLF. Aged in a 1000L Slavonian oak fuder and older French barriques. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. 2022 was a challenging year defined by a severe September heat wave and early spring frost, impacting yields. The wines that resulted are delicious- this has that Zin berry basket of raspberry, bluebberry, blackberry alongside gentle earth and mocha notes. Medium-full body, smooth texture and fresh acidity.
