25% Sangiovese, 25% Syrah, 25% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. After destemming and light crushing, the grapes were vinified separately; maceration took place in large, conical oak vats over a period of 22 days. The wine was then transferred to stainless steel tanks for three months, where both primary and malolactic fermentation was completed.
This fabulous, very expressive Super Tuscan hails from the town of Cortona in Tuscany and is comprised of equal parts Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This wine has a remarkable sense of freshness and precision on the palate, delivering dusty, earthy minerality, layered black currant and red cherry flavors, savory dried herbs, and a sleek, modern polish on the finish. Fresh, full body and soft tannins. An impressive “Super Tuscan” at a bargain price! Pair with pork, red meat, pasta with tomato sauce, cold cuts, burgers and much more.
Set amid the hills of Tuscany near the delightful village of Cortona, this picturesque wine estate has been producing Baracchi grapes since 1860. Riccardo Baracchi founded the winery in 1997, and with son Benedetto, replanted the property’s 80 acres of vines. It now showcases Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Trebbiano in three different sites. Riccardo still personally oversees the vineyards, while Benedetto now promotes Baracchi wines to the world. Acclaimed winemaker Stefano Chiocchioli (previously at Feudo di Santa Tresa in Sicily and Villa Cafaggio in Chianti Classico) oversees winemaking.
