2023 Domaine Bègue-Mathiot Chablis 'Les Pargues'

100% sustainably grown Chardonnay. Fermented in steel and aged on the lees for ten months in steel. 12.5% alcohol. ‘Les Pargues’ is a single vineyard located on the left bank between the prestigious Premier Cru vineyards of Vaillons and Montmains. While not officially a Premier Cru itself, its wines are often considered to be of high quality due to the Kimmeridgian limestone soils and its exposure. This Chablis, which is friendly both on the palate and wallet, has bone-dry notes of yellow apple, white peach, lemon oil, crushed oyster shells, chalk dust, rainwater and parsley. Body is medium-minus and acidity is medium-plus. Well balanced, elegant and understated. Have it with roast chicken, swordfish, tuna, and pork tenderloin. Drinking great now but will continue to develop ove the next five years. Run by the mother/daughter team of Maryse and Guylhaine Begue-Mathiot, this gem of a vineyard is situated a couple of miles from the very center of Chablis.
