100% certified organic Moschato Spinas, a rare, small berried clone of Moscato unique to Crete. Fermented and aged simply in stainless steel with 30% of the wine aging on the lees for just two months.
We love Moschato Spinas! This unique wine pours a light golden green color and, as all Moscatos should be, is extremely aromatic, with beautiful notes of peach, orange, melon and tons of floral notes- elderflower, jasmine and mint. Light in body and very refreshing despite the intenstiy of flavor. This is a great pairing for Asian dishes or a fresh Greek salad.
Established in 1990, this was the first certified organic estate in Crete. With its 4000 year-old wine culture, this magnificent island offers no shortage of unique indigenous grape varieties, which are what we have chosen to feature here. The winery itself is intelligently constructed into a hillside, which offers natural insulation and the valuable possibility to move everything by gravity. Giorgios Paterianakis makes an impressive array of wines for a modestly sized estate. His oldest daughter Emanouella is impatient to take over, however, and is brimming with innovative ideas, including the adoption of biodynamic practices.
