2023 Saddleback Chardonnay

Legendary winemaker Nils Venge is the talent behind Saddleback Cellars, founded in the heart of Napa Valley back in 1976. Nils is universally regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of California wine, having earned the first ever 100-Point score for an American wine. This small winery off the beaten path in Oakville has his full attention these days. The clever sourcing of diverse vineyard clones from around the valley results in an exceptionally appealing well-balanced, layered Chardonnay.  With its signature balance, lightly oaked body and silky-smooth finish, it’s aromatic and lively in the glass. The nose hints at Bosch pear, citrus and star fruit with light oaky vanilla. On the palate, there’s a fresh taste of Asian pear that’s tempered by toasted brioche, cardamon and soft minerality.
