A field blend of mostly Zinfandel with Monduese, Carignane and Cinsault. These fruit comes from interplanted vines at the Kirschenmann Vineyard, planted in 1915 on silica rich, white sandy soils on the east side of Lodi’s Mokelumne River AVA. 14.3% alcohol. The cool 2023 vintage produced a Zin with an incredible mix of power and freshness. Tons of dark, dusty blue and purple fruit, flowers and anise. Medium bodied with much more structure than your average Zin and perfectly balanced fresh acidity. Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan Passalacqua. Tegan has made wine around the world, including at the famed Alain Graillot in the Northern Rhone, and most notably he spent twenty years working his way up to wine-maker/vineyard manager at Turley. Drink now or age 5+ years.
