100% Chardonnay. This 12 acre monopole vineyard in Prissé boasts 70+ year old vines, limestone soils and south facing slopes. Fermented and aged simply in stainless steel- no oak! Only 1,000 cases made. This is an absolute gem of a deal on sublimely pure white Burgundy from this lesser known region in the southern Mâconnais, surrounding the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. Pours a beautiful lemon yellow color and gives off a classic, delicate nose of fresh lemon, ripe peach, pear, acacia and honeysuckle with a little undercurrent of smokiness and cream. Dry, soft and smooth, with medium+ acidity and fairly intensely concentrated orchard fruit and floral notes. Fresh and lively; despite the wine’s weight and intensity, it remains light on its feet due to its refreshing acidity. Pair this with scallops, lobster, crab, or nothing at all.
