100% Nebbiolo from younger vines of Rabaja, Loreto and Pozzo in Barbaresco as well as the neighboring village of Neive. Average vine age is 30 years. Fermented in stainless steel for 10 days to 2 weeks and then is aged in large oak barrels for an additional year. An astonishing value … as are all of the fine wines from this estate. Impressively well balanced and already drinking well, this shows off classic Nebbiolo notes of bright red cherry, ripe red raspberry, petrichor, freshly turned earth, aromatic roses and violets, and anise spice notes. Grippy but manageable tannins and perfectly fresh acidity ensure a fairly long life ahead for this wine, but it’s already drinking so well, why wait? The DeForvilles emigrated to Piedmont from Belgium in 1848 and established themselves in the village of Barbaresco in 1860.
