100% biodynamically farmed (Biodyvin-certified) Sauvignon Blanc from the famous flint-filled silex soils of the Loire. South facing vineyard sites provide richness and depth to fruit here, and there's plenty of lees aging, but it's done entirely in steel to maintain freshness. This is classic Sancerre- it is medium bodied, crisp and refreshing, but not too citrusy or pithy, with white grapefruit, green melon, peach pit, honeysuckle, and underripe mango balanced by mineral notes of sea salt, herbs, wet stones, and crushed chalk. Mouthwatering acidity on the finish, because it is, of course, Sancerre.
Micro-negociant, Olivier Richard, created the Lucien Raymond label as an homage to his grandfather, a winemaker in the Rhône who had apparently always harbored a secret desire to make great Sancerre but never did so in his lifetime.
