A field blend of mostly Tinta Barocca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cao and Tinta Fransisca. Small, but mighty! This is not one of the “Big Port Houses”, but it’s reputation for quality is undeniable. Its one of the few port houses that produces its own “aguardiente” (spirit) to fortify their wines - and it’s some of the best! Ages in wooden barrels for six years before release. 2017 was an excellent year for Port, with almost every house declaring the vintage due to a very warm, very dry season, leading to intensely concentrated wines. This is a fairly dry LBV port, with intense aromas and flavors of ripe strawberry, chocolate, plum, cherry, prune and pepper, with nice nutty and earthy undertones. High acid and very fresh. Perfect to accompany a wide variety of cheeses, chocolate-based desserts, or more spicy meat dishes.
