100% organic Chenin Blanc. Clos des Molières is a lieu-dit of 37 acres in the Jasnières appellation (Jaa-nyair), a remote outpost of the grape some 30 miles north of the city of Tours, where Sébastien farms three acres. Native ferments, no cold stablization. Aged in neutral barrels of various sizes for at least 12 months, followed by 6 months in steel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. Kind of like a cross between Vouvray (tuffeau limestone) and Savennières (schist) — combining the succulent fruit of the former with the precise and profound minerality of the latter. A unique and complex wine showing well with a few years of bottle age. Yellow apple, apricot, white nectarine, hoeny, jasmine and chamomile. Medium bodied, with a hint of oily richness in the mouth but with plenty of acidity. Great food wine.
95 points, Decanter Magazine. "The 7ha Domaine de la Roche Bleue is run by Sébastien Cornille, who is originally from
near Sancerre, Cornille bought the vines in 2009 in Marçon: 2.65ha in Jasnieres and the rest in Coteaux du Loir. The Clos des Molières is one of the best sites in the small appellation of Jasnières, and these 15-year-old vines are planted on flinty clay. The grapes are picked by hand with a yield of 30 hl/ha. The wine is fermented and matured in a mix of acacia and oak barrels for eight months. The 2017 has very attractive honeyed and citric aromas, with mouthfilling, quite rich fruits leading to a lovely precision of fairly austere acidity on the long finish. 2019-2032."
