56% Merlot, 14% Petit Verdot, 12% Carmenere, 9% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are situated on Garonne gravel with a classic sand, gravel and soft clay composition. Hand harvested, the wine was processed in stainless steel tanks with a 30-day maceration period. It was aged for 18 months, half of which was in French oak barrels.
Deep ruby color in the glass. Classic Bordeaux nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, leather, tobacco, creamy oak, dark chocolate and bramble. Medium bodied, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. This is a perfect everyday wine for almost any meal. Ideal with roasted vegetables, mushrooms risotto, Italian food, grilled beef, or with garlic baked pork tenderloin.
Located on the left bank in the most northern part of Bordeaux, Château Saint-Aubin is in the Médoc. Formerly swamps and marshlands, the area was drained and planted in the 17th century. Due to these unique soil characteristics, the estate can support numerous grape varietals. Owned by the same family since 1928, Château Saint-Aubin blends all five grape varietals — Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenere — in their Cru Bourgeois. The winemaker is Vincent Fernandez de Castro.
