31% Mourvedre, 29% Grenache, 26% Graciano and 14% Tempranillo; all sourced from the organically farmed Shake Ridge Ranch in Sutter Creek, widely considered the best vineyard in Amador County. Hand picked, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in 17-year-old used French oak. Very minimal sulphur (20ppm) added at bottling. 245 cases made. Thrilling, peppery high-toned aromas: fresh, gorgeous red and blue fruit, and spice, very mild back note of menthol, intriguing depth. On the palate, there are, on entry, simultaneous impressions of both tenderness and firm structure. Great tension and focus in flavor and texture: voluptuous tannins, very good length. Seems likely to develop beautifully for many years. Excellent summer red here.
