2018 Perinet Priorat 'Merit'

35% Syrah, 20% Garnatxa, 15% Carinyena, 20% Merlot & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermented with native yeasts in steel and aged for 14 months in 45% French oak and 55% steel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. 14.5% alcohol.  This deep-hued red blend has an enticing nose of black cherry, Mission fig, clove and a hint of forest floor. Polished tannins provide a backdrop to pleasing acidity and cassis, black plum, fennel frond, dried thyme and lavender flavors. Soft floral and herb notes linger into the finish. Medium-full bodied. Perinet is a spectacular estate in the prestigious DOQ Priorat region, roughly a 90-minute drive from Barcelona. Famous for its dramatic, steep terraced vineyards and rare black slate soils (llicorella), the estate uses traditional local varietals and French grapes to produce world-class wine.
