A blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Sousão from 25 year old estate vines. Hand harvested, foot trodden in traditional granite lagares and fermented with native yeasts. Aged four years in large old casks. 19.5% alcohol. Although a relatively new producer in the Douro, the Alves de Sousa family have a tradition of winemaking going back five generations. Having abandoned his plans to become a civil engineer, Domingos followed in his family’s footsteps to become a winemaker. This full bodied Port shows a soft, open and sweet but not overly sweet character. It is rich, spicy with a floral perfume and a core of black plum, black cherry, leather and oak flavors. Ready to drink now but will keep for another decade.
