Product Details

100% Syrah. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, followed by aging in a mix of French and American oak barrels for added complexity. Aging: 18 months in oak.

From the first swirl in the glass, this wine makes an impression. Deep ruby in color, the nose is packed with aromas of blackberry jam, ripe plum, black pepper, and a hint of smoked bacon. On the palate, it’s bold and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and flavors of dark fruit, licorice, and a touch of roasted coffee. There’s a long, lingering finish with just enough spice and minerality to keep things interesting. This is Syrah at its best—big, complex, and totally satisfying.

Bell Wine Cellars may not be one of the flashiest names in California wine, but that’s exactly why this bottle is such a great find. Originally founded by winemaker Anthony Bell, the winery has long been known for crafting small-lot, high-quality wines with a focus on purity of fruit and balance. Anthony Bell, co-founder of Bell Wine Cellars, was born into a winemaking family in Stellenbosch, South Africa. His early experiences in vineyards across Spain, France, and South Africa instilled in him a deep appreciation for the nuances of terroir and grape cultivation. After moving to California, Bell co-founded Bell Wine Cellars in 1991, focusing on small-lot, single-clone wines that highlight the unique characteristics of each varietal. His dedication to clonal research and commitment to expressing the purest essence of each grape have been central to the winery's philosophy. Although Anthony Bell retired in 2020, his legacy continues to influence the winery's approach to crafting elegant and balanced wines.
