50% Carignan, 50% Cinsault from 65 year old vines. Farming is certified biodynamic. Hand harvested, fully destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts. Free-run juice- no crushing! Aged for 12 months in old oak casks then an additional 6 months in vats. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. You don’t see this style very often here in the US, but it’s similar to the wines of the southern Rhône. There’s a ton of dark, spicy, floral-accented fruit but with a surprising red fruit freshness from the Cinsault. Medium bodied, with fairly light tannins, medium-plus acidity and a long, dry, refreshing finish. Very food friendly. Clos de l’Ours is a small, family owned winery with 40 acres of vines in a small natural enclosure surrounded by woods, in Provence, in the Haut Var, in Cotignac.
