2019 Coterie Pinot Noir ‘Reserve Cuvée’

100% Pinot Noir from six blocks at Tondre Grapefield and Kirk Williams vineyards.  Clones are 667, Pommard 4, 943, and 777.  Aged for 10 months in 31% new French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. 14.5% alcohol. Only 95 cases made. Full bodied (for Pinot), dry, and super complex, with tons of dark cherry, blackberry and cranberry with spicy pepper, coriander and allspice. Super smooth, with perfectly balanced acidity and tannins that have rounded out with bottle age. We’ve been buying wine from winemakers/owners Kyle and Shala Louden since they were still making it in their garage! 15+ years later, they have turned their garage project into a successful winery, located for years in Downtown San Jose on W. Julian, although they’re currently looking for a new space.
