100% organic Syrah from 40 year old vines planted physically within the Condrieu appellation, but classified as Collines Rhodaniennes. 2019 was a warm year in Condrieu, which resulted in lower acidity; nonetheless, it was considered a fantastic year and the wines are already showing well in their youth. Even though this has already been in the bottle for 5+ years, its still a baby, and will need some aeration or futher aging to show its best. Purple in color, with an aromatic nose of red cherry and raspberry, tons of pepper and spice, earth, leather, olives and a hint of flinty reduction. Quite intense on the medium bodied palate, with medium plus acidity and tannins, and a long, juicy, grippy finish. This is a legendary estate known for their world-class whites; it is now run by the 3rd and 4th generation of the Vernay family.
