2019 Erath Pinot Noir 'Knight's Gambit'

100% Pinot Noir from this single vineyard, planted between 1988 and 2018. It encompasses 30 acres ranging from 600 to 950 feet in elevation with

predominately east to south-east facing exposures.  Clones are 115, Pommard and 777. Aged for 15 months in 25% new French oak. 13% alcohol. 1,051 cases made. This is a lighter, more Burgundian style of Pinot, with delicate depth to its earthy, chocolately red fruit. Juicy and textural, and in a perfect drinking window. Erath was founded in 1968 by Dick Erath, who began experimenting in a California garage before moving to Dundee. He planted early experimental vines in the Chehalem Mountains and Dundee Hills, helping shape the modern Oregon wine industry.  Head winemaker Leah Adinthas worked in France, Switzerland, Australia and the US.
