100% organic Vernatsch (Schiava). Spontaneous fermentation with partly whole grapes in open tonneaux, then malolactic fermentation and aging for 18 months on fine lees in oak tonneaux. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. 12.5% alcohol. In 1978, Karl and Josef Pichler decided to make wine from their 7.5 acre vineyard themselves; now Johannes and Benjamin Pichler, representing the third generation, are in charge. The family’s nature-oriented and sustainable winegrowing methods, combined with uncompromising cellaring techniques result in genuine, terroir-driven wines that fully retain their character as they age. Super complex nose and palate of red and blue berries, cherry, smoke, forest floor and herbs. Light to medium bodied, with high acidity and grippy tannins. Decant to drink now or age for another 10+ years.
