85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo from estate vines in Alfaro. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 18 months in American and French oak. 13.5% alcohol. Six families of farmers founded Bodegas Burgo Viejo in 1987 (with the next generation coming on-board, it is now sixteen families working together). Burgo Viejo´s main asset has always been their exquisite winemaking process, using grapes collected from its own vineyards, going back to the times when they were just a wine cellar selling in bulk (they started as a cooperative in the 1950’s).
95 points, Decanter Magazine. "Exploding with ripe red cherry, cranberry and plum fruit which hurtles towards the finish, passing the toasty tannins and bracing acidity on its way. Creamy and long."
91 points, James Suckling. "Spicy and juicy, this has notes of coffee beans, nutmeg, coriander and spice box on the nose. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and excellent freshness. Drink now or hold."
