Product Details
Wine Type: Red Wine
Grape Varietal: Red Blend
Country of Origin: USA- California
Appellation/Region: Sonoma Valley

54% Zinfandel, 26% Petite Sirah, 14% Alicante Bouschet and 6% Syrah, all farmed organically. The Zinfandel comes from the Kimberly Vineyard in Kenwood, originally planted in 1906, head trained, own rooted and dry farmed. The Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet come from the legendary Bedrock vineyard, and the Syrah from the Hooley Vineyard, only a quarter mile from downtown Sonoma. All wine lots are picked and fermented separately with native yeast. Aged in 225L neutral French oak barrels for 10 month. The finished blend is racked once before being bottling unfined and unfiltered with very low (17ppm) sulphur at bottling only. 13.8% alcohol. 538 cases made.

Pours a nice inky dark purple/red color. Savory and juicy on the nose, with lovely balanced aromas of ripe black cherry, tart blackberry jam, some tangy citrus alongside earthy notes of dried flowers, asphalt and peppery spice. Light to medium bodied, with very fine but brisk tannins, juicy acidity and long, tart, tangy finish. Have this with pizza, pasta, barbecue....

Founded by two Chicago natives, Randal Feldman and Aaron Cherny, Source & Sink is a project dedicated to revival. Rande was a journeyman in wine, having worked as a grape grower, winemaker and cellar master. Aaron was a jaded banker who left his finance life in Chicago for the 2017 harvest and never looked back. With connections to legendary vineyard sources Rande and Aaron wanted to pay homage to the rich grape growing history of Sonoma, so they sought out Heritage varieties ripening on old vines to showcase that history. Their work starts in the vineyard and no vineyard is more important to them than Kimberly Vineyard, which they’ve worked meticulously to convert to organic viticulture since taking over farming two years ago. That’s the key here, every vineyard they work with must be farmed organically (if not biodynamically) and must be planted to gnarly old vines that produce the kind of complex, concentrated fruit needed to make these heritage varieties sing.
