2021 Justin Red Blend ‘Isosceles’

86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 7% Merlot. Open- and closed-top stainless steel fermentation with twice-daily pump-overs during maceration to build color, texture, and integration. Aged 21 months in 100% new French oak barrels. 15.5% alcohol. The nose is complex and inviting, with very ripe cherry and black currant upfront, followed by savory notes of cedar, pipe tobacco, vanilla bean, baking spice, and warm seasoned oak. Full-bodied and lush, with ripe crème de cassis, black cherry jam, and hints of dark berry fruit on entry. Mid-palate flavors include vanilla, licorice, and baking spice leading into complex savory elements of cedar, tobacco leaf, and leather. The length is impressive, with a continually evolving finish that moves from concentrated black fruit into baking spice and oak, held together by refined tannins.
