An old vine blend of mostly Zinfandel and various other unidentified grapes. The Kirschenmann Vineyard rests in a sandy, chalk and silica rich oxbow of the Mokelumne River. Planted in 1915 on its own roots, this organically and dry farmed vineyard has fast become one of Lodi’s most prized sites under the stewardship of Tegan Passalaqua (Turley, Sandlads). Fermented and aged naturally with only a small addition of sulfur post MLF. Aged in a 1000L Slavonian oak fuder and older French barriques. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. 2021 was very successful, high-quality vintage with more moderate weather compared to surrounding years. This vintage is probably the most high toned, crisp and fruit forward of the Kirschenmanns we have here. Bright acid and tons of red fruit flavors abound.
