The aromatics combine citrus, florals, and orchard fruit in the form of tangerine, lemon aspen (a floral native citrus), pear blossom, and golden apple. With tangy fresh pineapple, dragon fruit, lemon zest, lime juice and almond milk, this is mouthwatering and refreshing with green crunchy pear, granny smith apple, honeydew melon, soft herbs and cool wet limestone to the finish. Dry and bright, but with a light textural grip, this wine is a crowd-pleaser for any audience, dish, and occasion.
The Chalmers family has been a pioneering force in Australian viticulture for over two decades, particularly known for their commitment to introducing and cultivating Italian grape varieties. Their journey began in the 1980s, when they recognized Australia’s potential for growing Mediterranean varietals that could thrive in warm, dry conditions. Over the years, they have established themselves as leading innovators, working with nurseries in Italy to source and propagate an array of varietals never before seen in Australian vineyards. The Mother Block vineyard, located in Merbein, Victoria, serves as their experimental nursery and the foundation for their winemaking endeavors. This site is home to over 50 different Italian varieties, many of which have been successfully planted in vineyards across the country thanks to the Chalmers’ efforts. Their dedication to minimal intervention winemaking, organic farming practices, and an unwavering focus on sustainability have made them one of the most respected names in the Australian wine scene.
