100% Pinot Noir. The fruit comes from four vineyards, averaging 45 years old and including some 1er cru plots. Hand harvested and fully destemmed, with traditional 15-day temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Aged for 12 months in 15% new French oak. 4,000 bottles made. Established in 1879, Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is a fixture of the Côte de Beaune. Christine Gruère-Dubreuil is the fifth generation and oversees this property of 50 acres centered on the magical medieval town of Pernand-Vergelesses. Medium bodied, silky and elegantly perfumed with red cherry and berry fruit alongside rose petal and violetflorals, this is a beautiful version of Volnay. Fleshy and pure, this has firm acidity and fine, grippy tannins. Already drinking well but will continue to flesh out and develop more spice and earth notes over the next 5-10 years. Excellent stuff!
