A wild blend of 51% Sagrantino, 16% Piedirosso, 11% Negroamaro, 7% Graciano, 5% Teroldego, 5% Nero d'Avola and 5% Uva di Troia; all sustainably farmed from estate vineyards on the red sand and limestone soils of the Chalmers Vineyard in Merbein. Cofermented with native yeasts and a combination of hand plunging and pumping over to extract optimal color and flavor. Bottle unfined. 13.0% alcohol.

On the nose, this presents an enticing bouquet of red and purple fruits - think pomegranate, plum, and cherry - interwoven with savory notes of Szechuan peppercorn, licorice, river mint, and a hint of sesame. The palate is vibrant and approachable, with juicy red and black fruit flavors dancing alongside peppery tannins. Its light-bodied nature and bright acidity make it an excellent choice for a variety of occasions, from casual gatherings to more formal dinners.

The Chalmers family has been a pioneering force in Australian viticulture for over  two decades, particularly known for their commitment to introducing and cultivating Italian grape varieties. Their journey began in the 1980's, when they recognized Australia's potential for growing Mediterranean varietals that could thrive in warm, dry conditions. Over the years, they have established themselves as leading innovators, working with nurseries in Italy to source and propogate an array of vineyards never before seen in Australia. The Mother Block vineyard. located in Merbein, Victoria, serves as their experimental nursery and the foundation for their winemaking endeavors. This site has been home to over 50 different Italian varieties, many of which have been successfullly planted in vineyards across the country, thakns to the Chalmer's efforts. Their dedication to minimal intervention winemaking, organic farming practices, and an unwavering focus on sustainability have made them on of the most respected names in the Australian wine scene.
