100% sustainably farmed Pinot Noir from the region of Limoux in the Languedoc. The vineyards here are higher and cooler than those of any other Languedoc-Roussillon appellation, and have historically been used mainly for sparkling production. Individual parcels are cultivated in a strict environmentally friendly manner, with minimal use of chemical sprays. The soils are primarily clay-limestone with some rocky, gravelly examples. Fermented and aged simply in stainless steel.
This light, fruity and fresh Pinot Noir is a great value for the price. Tons of strawberry and cherry, both tart and ripe. Soft tannins and mellow acidity make this a great candidate to throw in the fridge and drink with a slight chill.
Rive Sud is a private-label import project made by the esteemed cooperative winery Cave Anne de Joyeuse. Cave Anne de Joyeuse is a high-quality cooperative winery in Limoux, which was founded in 1929 and currently boasts 650 members. It is directed today by Guy Andrieu. Anne de Joyeuse is one of only ten wine cooperatives in France to carry the highest level of quality accreditation. All the individual growers (all of them sustainable) who supply Anne de Joyeuse have to adhere to rigorous procedures, laid out and monitored by the co-operative’s oenologists. The outcome is wines of outstanding quality, offered at accessible prices, all while emphasizing the unique terroir of the Limoux region. Aside from its farming practices, the winery places a high priority on environmental protection throughout all aspects of its operations.
