100% organically farmed Trebbiano (Toscano), hand harvested from estate vineyards in Tortoreto and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. 50% of the wine is then aged in concrete vats, while the remaining 50% is aged in stainless steel tanks. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. 13% alcohol.
Vibrant, refreshing and loaded with aromas of white stone fruit and fresh herbs, this interesting wine pours a fairly deep golden color and has amazing textural grip and fullness in the mouth, with a bright, pithy, mouthwatering finish. It has the texture of a wine aged in barrel, real depth, but does not see any oak. This is one of the most “serious” Trebbianos we’ve ever tasted and would be an amazing wine with all types of cuisine.
Pietro and his two children, Federica and Francesco, are the forces behind Terraviva, an organic and biodynamic farm nestled near Teramo, Abruzzo. Their vineyards benefit from the cold winds descending from the Gran Sasso mountains and the tempering influence of the Adriatic Sea. Winemaking is overseen by Francesco Bordini and based on minimal intervention, using only estate-grown organic and biodynamic grapes fermented with natural yeasts, and minimal sulfites added at bottling. Each plot is harvested separately, resulting in wines with crisp varietal character, vibrant freshness, and exceptional balance. Situated in the pristine hills of Tortoreto within the Colline Teramane DOCG area, Terraviva enjoys an ideal environment for crafting wines that reflect their terroir, influenced by the Adriatic sea and wind. With a focus on native grapes like Trebbiano, Pecorino, Passerina, and Montepulciano, Terraviva’s goal is to express their unique terroir. Spanning 50 acres in a single block, their vineyards are meticulously tended to maintain the integrity of each plot, ensuring the highest quality in every bottle.
