Light to medium in body, dry, and impeccably balanced. Crisp and refreshing, with a nose of light floral aromatics, crisp citrus, fresh herbs and racy minerality. The combination of low alcohol, light body and naturally high acidity make this great for a hot day. For fans of Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc. Pair with fresh salads, shellfish, grilled fish, roasted vegetables and asparagus.
For four generations now, the Frey winery is in the heart of the village of Ober-Flörsheim, the highest settlement in the south-west of Rheinhessen, where the family’s roots as winegrowers go back into the 18th century.
Philipp and Christopher Frey, the youngest generation of the family, and their father Stefan are now in charge, tending 70 acres of organic vines and producing about 15,000 cases of wine annually. The winery-owned vineyards are spread over 12 miles in between Biebelnheim in the north and Ober-Flörsheim in the south, the grapevines grow on various soils and different microclimates. Massive limestone rocks, arose in the tertiary, provide the basis of the terroir. Mineral Rieslings, fruity Sauvignon Blanc, creamy and delicate Pinots grow on loamey and clayey limestone soils. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are planted on gravely loess soils.
