100% Pinot Noir, with 85% coming from the Graham Family Vineyard and the remainder from Morris Ranch. Winemaker Ed Kurtzmann says this is the latest he’s ever picked his RRV fruit by two weeks! Fully destemmed and aged for 10 months in 20% new French oak. 14.4% alcohol. 570 cases made. The long, cool growing season and late harvest allowed Ed to make extremely elegant wines in the vintage, with delicate aromas of wild berry fruits, subtle mint and loamy earth. The flavors and mouthfeel on the palate are enticing, with a wonderful texture, good acidity and some surprising tannins in the finish.Drink now through 2032. August West was founded by winemaker Ed Kurtzman and vineyard-owning partners Howard Graham and the late John Peterson. (Peterson and Cortada Alta vineyards, SLH). The winery is located in San Francisco’s produce district.
Ed prefers a style he likes to drink himself, making lighter, elegant and food-friendly wines from these two appellations.
