2023 Cascina Val del Prete Roero Arneis DOCG 'Luèt'

100% certified organic Arneis from the 3.7 acre Luèt vineyard in Cuneo. 30% of the wine undergoes skin contact for 2.5 days, while the rest is fermented simply in stainless steel. This skin contact creates a rich, creamy style that brings out the grape’s texture. Native yeasts only. Unfined and unfiltered. 12,000 bottles made. This is a dense, concentrated, rich and textural version of Arneis- not quite an orange wine, but the skin contact is evident. It’s clean and not funky at all, with notes of lemon peel, pear and apple with tons of herbs and a touch of honey. Medium to medium-full bodied, with a salty tinge to the acidity running through the round, bordering on creamy, mouthfeel. Fun food wine- try any risotto dish. Val del Prete (Valley of the Priest) is thought to have come by its name when around 1850, the Abbot Felice de Grèsy was forced to reside here in exile.
