In addition to the very fine and incredibly age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignons for which Kathryn Kennedy is known, they also make a great Sauvignon Blanc. This 2021 was sourced from only certified organic vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties, thus giving it a straight California appellation. Marty Mathis is one of the best winemakers in the state, and the winery is right in our backyard!
Tasting Notes
A beautiful wine with a delicate texture and light haunting flavors. Expressive tropical fruit aromas leap out... bright green melon, juicy lime candy, firm white peaches. This young white wine has a super clean and vibrant nose. Gentle texture and an inviting taste leads to mild tartness and a long lingering finish. Classic California Sauvignon Blanc ready for service with light cuisine, fresh seafood, and afternoon salads.
About Kathryn Kennedy
Born in 1927, Kathryn moved from Santa Cruz to Santa Clara Valley at the age of 15. She earned a degree from Stanford University at the age of 19. Married, and with the first of her four children, Kathryn moved to her Saratoga property in 1949. Her inspiration to plant a vineyard came from experiencing a fine bottle of Martin Ray Cabernet from the 1950s as well as from observing the workmen tend an old Cabernet vineyard across the road from her home. After 35 years working alongside Kathryn Kennedy, her son Marty Mathis continues their commitment to growing and making world class sustainable wines.
