Product Details

Grape Varietal: Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris
Country of Origin: Italy

100% certified organic and biodynamic Pinot Gris grown on traditional capanne, or pergolas, in the Peligna valley. Handpicked fruit, fermented with native yeasts. The wine referments in the bottle and the maturation of the sparkling wine takes place ‘sur-lie’ or on its own yeasts. The wine is neither disgorged nor filtered and is made without any added sulphur- zero/zero! The string on the label is made from wool from the estate’s own sheep!

Tasting Notes

A wonderful Pet Nat that’s fresh, clean, light and dry. Aromas of wild strawberry, apricot, raspberry , rhubarb and peach along with pithy citrus rind and jasmine tea notes. Not mineral driven, not too funky/leesy, and lightly sparkling, with great acidity and a smooth mouthfeel with just a hint of tartness. Definitely crushable on a warm day or as an aperitif, but also great with cheese and charcuterie.

About Lunaria

Lunaria was formed as a cooperative of 600 farmers in 1964, who all shared the same goal of conservation and a reverence for organic and biodynamic winemaking. This came in hand with the place - Majella National Park, one of the largest and most diverse parks in all of Italy. The farmers settled on this are to aid in their mission and have not looked back. Lunaria wines were launched several decades later and were meant to evoke the initial goals of these farmers in a fun and charming way. Production is now fully biodynamic whilst supplying a world market.  Their focus is truly on a holistic approach in both vineyard and winery, with careful attention paid at each interval – from the inextricable link between pollinating bees & yeast, to the renewable material of wool, showcased in a delicate tie on each bottle made from sheep with whom they share the land.
