81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot. The majority of the fruit comes from estate vineyards on Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder, with 41% of the blend coming from Moon Mountain.- this is the first vintage of Affinity to be all mountain fruit. Aged 18 months in 65% new French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. 14.8% alcohol. 4,077 cases made. This classic Napa Cab is powerful and ageworthy, yet supple enough to be enjoyed upon release- the long, cool vintage was ideal for power and backbone. Dark cherry, cassis, and blackberry lead the way, followed by classic Napa notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with firm but polished tannins and a long, savory finish. Drink now with a proper decant - 60 to 90 minutes will do wonders - or cellar for several years. This wine is built to evolve and reward patience.
92 points, Vinous. "The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Affinity is a fine introduction to this range. Brisk acids, red-toned fruit, blood orange and cinnamon lend notable energy. Bright and focused, the 2023 is positively stellar. This is the first vintage that blends fruit from Mt. Veeder and Moon Mountain, two sides of the same mountain. A year or two in bottle should help soften the tannins."
