100% organic Chardonnay from cooler sites in the Napa Valley. Whole cluster pressed, fermented with native yeasts and a small amount of skin contact resulting in a “golden” hue that sits on a spectrum between orange and white. Aged in 20% new oak for 6 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with zero additions and zero sulphur. 12.98% alcohol. This unique wine is richly flavored, dancing between sweet pineapple, tart cider and quince, but balanced with bright, crunchy citrus flavors and a minerality akin to wet river rocks. Clean, precise, and bright, with a long saline finish. There’s a hint of butteriness, but quite different than your average CA Chard- it just accentuates the fruit flavors rather than overpowers. The winemaker here is the legendary Steve Matthiason.
