100% organic Pinot Noir from this small, cool vineyard near Trout Gulch in Aptos. Fermented with native yeasts and 50% whole clusters. Aged 12 months in neutral French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. 12.8% alcohol. This is a new bottling for Keegan and pretty much sits in between his other two Pinots- less fruity and round than the Regan but less herbaceous and minty than the Volkmann. It’s light in body, round and juicy, with crunchy red brambly berry fruit, a bit of a salty tang, brisk and vibrant acidity and very fine, mellow tannins. Winemaker and vineyard manager Keegan Mayo was born in Hawai’i and raised in Santa Cruz, and produces minimal intervention, food friendly wines with a real sense of place. He’s currently the head winemaker at Bargetto in Aptos.
